AOTRC (ARTHRITIS AND OSTEOPOROSIS TREATMENT-RESEARCH CENTER, INC.) is a state of the art facility conveniently located in the Aventura area. Dr Munoz and his personally trained Physician Assistant, Muriel Guigui has and continues to provide outstanding specialty rheumatology care in this location for the past 15 years. Dr. Munoz has practice in the North Miami Beach/Aventura areas for 25 years. Dr. Munoz himself has 27 years of experience as a superb rheumatology clinican respected locally and nationally for his wide repoitoire of skillsets. Both Dr. Munoz and his physician assistant, Muriel Guigui, are trained and experts in the use of ultrasound for guided joint injections. AOTRC has full diagnostic capability including xray, DEXA Scan, vascular and nerve testing capability and EKG. Full lab capability is also available. From a treatment standpoint, infusion suites for biologic therapies are available in addition to physical therapy modalities. AOTRC also offers INTEGRATIVE RHEUMATOLOGY services that take into account the mind, body, spirit of health and wellness and interface with conventional treatments. Dr. Munoz is a Fellowship trained Integrative Medicine Specialist and the first Integrative Rheumatologist trained at the prestigious Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona founded by Dr Andrew Weil.

Rheumatologist
Dr. George Munoz was born in Quito, Ecuador and immigrated with his family at the age of 2 growing up in New York City. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College in New York City then graduating with honors, AOA, from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1980 completing his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital of New York. He then went on to complete his Rheumatology Subspecialty training at Harvard affiliates, The Brigham and Women’s Hospital and The Beth Isreal Hospitals in Boston, Ma. in 1985. He then moved to South Florida and has been in private practice primarily as a sub specialist rheumatologist in the North Miami Beach and Aventura areas ever since. He is heavily involved in his community lecturing on health, wellness, arthritis prevention and novel arthritis treatments as well as community health projects. Dr. Munoz is both Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. His hobbies include martial arts, personal athletic training, coaching youth athletics, music and wilderness exploration. He lives with his family including 3 dogs in Davie, Florida. Dr. Munoz is a national and local speaker and expert on nutrition, supplements, vitamins and Integrative Rheumatology. Dr. Munoz also has vast experience on exercise techniques for arthritis and injury prevention. He serves as Team Physician for all Florida International University Athletics and is a personal physician for over 75 NFL, NBA and MLB athletes. He also oversees and advises on collegiate, high school and youth athletics in his areas of expertise. Dr. Munoz consults and treats with patients primarily from South Florida but because of his broad expertise in many areas, patients from all over the US, South America, and the Caribbean come to see him.

Rheumatologist
DO
Dr. Katrina Gener, DO is a board-certified internist and current PGY-4 Rheumatology Fellow at Larkin Community Hospital South Miami. Originally from Miami, Florida, she completed her undergraduate studies at Florida International University (FIU) before earning her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at Wellington Regional Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Gener is ABIM certified in Internal Medicine and is currently pursuing advanced training in rheumatology with a focus on comprehensive, patient-centered care. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time at the gym, visiting Disney, and has a well-known knack for winning contests—especially on the radio.

Practice Administrator
Leads the AARA AOTRC team in best practices for efficient seamless patient experience in rheumatology. Michele has been in Healthcare for 22 years and leads an academic clinical practice setting the standard in services, function and experience in a highly evolving and competitive healthcare environment. She applies the AARA principles of Accountability, Responsibility, Adaptability and Appreciation to the care team leadership style. She has a back ground in film, art, creativity and enjoys world travel and classic rock. Michele enjoys time with her family and dogs.

Rheumatologist
Dr. Harvey Schwartz is a PGY-5 rheumatology fellow at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami, Florida, where he serves as Co–Chief Fellow alongside Dr. Mary Matthew. He earned his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel. Dr. Schwartz completed his internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, after which he worked as a hospitalist in Washington, D.C. for two years before pursuing subspecialty training in rheumatology. Outside of medicine, Dr. Schwartz and his wife enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. They play a variety of racket sports, enjoy basketball, and appreciate long walks on the beach. He and his co–chief fellow also enjoy studying together and exploring coffee shops throughout northern Miami while preparing for their rheumatology training and future careers.

Rheumatologist
Dr. Felice H. Liu, D.O. is a current PGY-4 Rheumatology Fellow at Larkin Community Hospital South Miami. Originally born in upstate New York, she grew up in the Maryland-D.C. area, volunteered and worked in healthcare since a young age, and completed a B.S. in Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland-College Park before attending Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) for medical school in Eastern Tennessee. During medical school, she developed an interest in rheumatology through her clinical rotations. She completed Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan Health-West in the Grand Rapids area, with a special focus on rheumatology beginning in her second year, and she went on to pursue fellowship at Dr. George Munoz's practice. She employs a holistic approach to medicine, while continuing to develop her knowledge and skills in rheumatology, ultrasound, and procedures through clinical practice, conferences, and ongoing education. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, sightseeing, nature and animals, swimming, art and photography, movies, fiction, gaming, and music spanning rock, indie, alternative, and EDM.

Rheumatologist
Dr. Mary Mathew is a PGY-5 Rheumatology fellow at Larkin Community Hospital, South Miami and co-chief fellow with Dr. Harvey Schwartz. She earned her medical degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Jefferson New Jersey. Dr. Mathew also completed fellowship training in Geriatrics at University of Virginia prior to rheumatology fellowship. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, watching period dramas, and staying active through barre workouts. She is grateful to have found a strong sense of camaraderie with her co-fellows in learning more about rheumatology, and finding new coffee shops to study with co-chief fellow, Dr. Schwartz.
